Whoever said teachers are off in the summer never taught- because summer is the time of the year when I am not exhausted from the neverending hstle and bustle of the day, and I can stop and hear myself think. Ideas circulate through my brain like the funmel clouds currently threatening my beloved Beaches of South Walton. I cannot stop thinking, and researching, and studying, and always searching for the best way to teach to do a lesson. Wanting the students to be challenged and HAVE fun is a personal bad habit of mine, and I never stop looking even when a lesson is planned, copied and ready to go, I am always thinking there is a better way for me to do it. I think it is a compulsive sickness.
Teaching a new class just compounds this problem as I am constantly searching the internet and looking at other teachers ideas. Taking ideas and modifying them - small changes- just enough to make them fit into my classroom, to work with my kiddos. It is a never-ending search- so despite the rumors, I am busy at work this summer....and did I mention I am a teacher?
